So excited to FINALLY have Aaron and Amy on the blog today! It feels like an entire lifetime since we shot this session! Partially I think because we've been traveling but also because we rearranged our blog schedule a bit which means that we've been living in the switch over gap between posts.
Anyway back to Amy and Aaron! When we first met these guys one of the first things that we noticed was how laid back and "go with the flow" they both were; which is really good because we definitely almost got rained out half way through their shoot. Normally we start an engagement session with a getting comfortable period. The poses are super easy, we move super slow, and everything is all about getting comfortable. For some couples it can take a half an hour or so before they get totally comfortable. Thankfully Aaron and Amy were totally comfortable by the second pose because it was right at that 30 minute mark where some couples are just getting comfortable that the raindrops started falling. This wasn't one of those light rains where you can just shoot through it and it'll be fine. No, this was a "we are about to get very very wet" moment. We quickly grabbed our bags and headed for cover. Walking back toward the lobby of the Botanic Gardens (getting wetter with every step) all I could really think was how bummed I was for them. This was honestly the last shot at these photos before their wedding (which was later that week), the Botanic Gardens were closing pretty soon, and getting ready to have your photo taken is SO much work. I hated to think that their session was only going to be 30 minutes. The rain let up a little bit though and we found an area with just enough cover to keep shooting despite the rain. It worked out beautifully! They were even game to have a seat on the wet concrete for a couple shots! Even though we almost lost it half way through it all turned out SO good!
