We're rounding out our engagement shoot series with this INCREDIBLE shoot from late December. I first met JJ and Erin back in the summer and from that meeting on I knew they were going to be a blast to work with. They were laid back and fun but also knew what they wanted out of their big day and weren't afraid to let me know (in a super nice way of course). I often think that brides are worried about coming across as rude or demanding if they have strong opinions about their wedding day but honestly it makes my job SOOOOOOO much easier.
When they told me about their wedding day it honestly sounded so awesome that my first thought wasn't I want to be their photographer it was I HAVE to go to this wedding. It sounds like so much fun! You guys will see what I'm talking about in September though when I get to share it with you!
Okay, now for why I named this blog post what I did. JJ and Erin aren't from Memphis. They're from my hometown about an hour and half away. Not a big deal though. I work at home pretty often. The thing about it is though, that if something goes wrong with equipment or locations when I'm an hour and half away from my office I'm a little limited on what I can do to fix it. I always put a lot of thought into packing and prepping for a shoot but even more so when I'm leaving town. Which is why I was extra surprised to open my camera bag and find that I'd left home without a single memory card for my main camera body. I always worry about forgetting something and was pretty sure that was the thing I was most likely to forget but still I was a little caught off guard. So, I grabbed my backup camera and away we went (always, always pack a backup camera!). Even though I wasn't using my preferred camera on this shoot I still had a great time working with these guys and can't wait until September!
Funny little bit about the photo on the right. We were just getting started and were walking down the street talking about possible store fronts to shoot in front of when this shop owner grabs my attention and invites us to come shoot in her shop. Turns out she had a really cute setup!
So after shooting downtown for awhile we headed over to our second location; A Christmas tree Farm! Turns out they just so happen to know someone who owns one. How cool is that!
Note to self: Photograph more engagement rings in Christmas trees!!!!!!!!!
