I have so many things I want to say about this shoot and about these guys but let me start of by saying that you guys are going to have to bear with me on the post titles for a little bit. I'm trying out some new formats and so things are going to keep changing for the time being.
For their engagement photos David and Kyla decided to shoot where they're getting married, sort of as a test run I guess. They're getting married at the Brooks in just a few weeks so I met them at Overton Park at 7AM for an early Sunday morning shoot. I'm going to be really honest with you guys and just go ahead and admit that I'm not at all a morning person. So, with coffee firmly in hand the three of us set off for some great portrait time. I know what you're probably thinking and no, I didn't make a mistake Aleah didn't join us for this one. It's one thing entirely for me to be up and out the door by 6:15 on a Sunday morning. It's another thing entirely to also have my 2 year old up, dressed, fed, and over to a friend's house by 6:15 too. As much as I like to think I have it together I'm not even for a second going to delude myself into thinking that I have it that together.
Other than awesome light the major reason to shoot at 7am is that you pretty much have the place to yourself. It was so nice to be able to take all the wide shots I wanted without worry about people or dogs in the background. I'm glad David and Kyla were such good sports and trusted me enough to agree to get up early too. Really though just calling them good sports isn't quite fair. These guys were so great! They have, from pretty much day one, said you do your thing and we'll roll with it. That's not something you always get in the wedding industry so when you do get it you really appreciate it.
I think this is the first time I've ever seen the road next to the Brooks without cars on it. YAYYY morning!
I am in love with Kyla's ring. I really do hope we start seeing more colored gemstones in the future.
David and Kyla were so much fun to shoot. Aleah is super bummed that she missed this one and I'm super excited for their June wedding!
