This year Aleah and I are 10. No, that wasn't a typo. 10 years ago is when we became Josh and Aleah. We realized a little while ago that we were approaching that 10 year mark. That started us talking about the "early days" and how much has changed in our lives since then. Really, the only thing that hasn't changed is that; I'm still Josh and she's still Aleah, but definitely not the same Josh and Aleah that we were in 2006! So many things have happened since then and there are so many great stories and we want to share them with you! Over the rest of 2016 Aleah and I are going to share our most memorable. Some of these are happy stories, some are funny, and some definitely aren't. What they all are though is our journey from there to here. We hope you enjoy them!
What better place to start than the beginning right? I mean, if I'm really going to tell you the story of us I should start with the days pre "us". It was January 2006. We were in the first couple of days of the spring semester of my Sophomore, and Aleah's Junior year of college. I had just switched my major from art to general business hoping to try out a few things and eventually settle on something specific. (remember that last bit, it's important later) Aleah had just come back from a semester overseas and was happily re-acclimating to life with her regular friends and the normalcy that comes from not traveling through Europe.
It was the second time our. . . well, let's just call it "the bad class". It was literally the most boring class any college student has ever taken in the history of academia! Anyway, it was the second time "the bad class" met and I took a seat in the front row. After staring at the carpet in front of me for what felt like eternity waiting for class to start I noticed someone walking toward me. I'm still not sure what caught my attention but when I looked up all I saw was two striking blue eyes wearing a bright blue cable knit sweater. Later I realized that the sweater wearing eyes had a girl around them. We talked. I flirted. She flirted back and I'm sure I asked her name but it apparently went in one ear and out the other. I blame her eyes.
Fast forward several days and I've convinced her to skip class with me so that I could buy her lunch. She reluctantly accepted (she was NOT going to skip class without a fight). After our incredibly romantic dream date of Chic-Fil-A in the Student Center, I asked if I could walk her back to her dorm. As we strolled across the front lawn I realized something. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HER NAME WAS! I kinda started to panic a little. It was way to late to ask her name now and she obviously knew my name. My plan; ask for her number but make her create the contact in my phone. Boom! I had it! Her name was Aleah, she was an accounting major, and she was fantastic. I immediately ran to the Registrar's office and changed my major to accounting. We only had one class together that semester but after that we took every class we could together. I knew I wanted to focus on something specific in the business department. Turns out it was Aleah.
