Any time you plan a wedding for July in Memphis you expect it to be a million degrees outside. It's just part of living in the south. Thankfully for Matt and Lauren though that wasn't quite the case. You see, when my alarm clock (read: iPhone. does anyone actually use an alarm clock anymore) went off Saturday morning it was accompanied by a rumble of thunder. I immediately clicked over from alarm to my weather app. 55% chance of rain until 2 and then overcast. Alright, I could definitely work with that. The rain should be finished by the time Lauren was in her dress and we would be good to go with some cloudy skies to diffuse the light. Awesome! 2 hours later though the forecast had changed. The thunder was gone, the clouds were here for the day but the rain wasn't happening until between 3 and 4 and going until 7. This didn't work so well with our plan so Aleah and I immediately devised a new photo timeline for the day just in case. Another 2 hours after that though and there was no more rain chance, there were no more dark clouds, and it was shaping up to the the hot July day I'd been expecting for weeks. The day starts, Lauren is getting into her gorgeous ball gown as the guys are arriving. As each of the groomsmen and then Matt come into the church they let me know that they have special shirts on that we're supposed to get a photo of. (I love how when groomsmen are told to do something on wedding day like let the photographer know about your shirt they make it priority #1.) We hop outside to grab a couple shots of the guys in their shirts and out of now where it starts raining. It was that really annoying kind of rain where not only is it raining but it's also sunny which meant I had rain and harsh light. BOOOOOO! The rain rolled out a couple minutes later and took with it quite a bit of the heat.
Enough about the weather though. Now I want to tell you about Matt and Lauren. Aside from being brave souls who faced July heat in the name of love and marriage they're quite possibly one of the happiest most fun loving couples we've ever met. From conversations about who has and hasn't seen the latest Disney movie while getting ready to air guitar at their reception these guys had so much fun all day. Aleah and I had such a great time hanging out with Matt, Lauren, their friends, and family. We hope you enjoy these photos from their day!
