The first thing we always do when we're prepping a blog post (after getting photos ready of course) is to think of a couple key words for the day. It really helps us figure out just where the blog post is going to go, what we're going to say, and how we're going to break down an entire day of events into a 1 or 2 paragraph blog post. When we were thinking about James and Alexa's keywords we were a little surprised at the first things that came to mind. Even though the weather was a HUGE factor throughout the day and their color palate was bold the first thing that came to mind was family. Not to say that family isn't a huge part of every wedding day because it definitely is, there was just that little something extra on James and Alexa's big day. From getting ready time with mom and the girls to first look with dad you could just tell how important family was to Alexa and it was no different for James. From mom pinning on his boutonniere to a ongoing bet with Alexa's dad about who was going to cry and when they all seemed like a family that had been together for years and years.
If you've been anywhere in the area in the past two weeks you've probably noticed the insane weather we've been having. Going into the weekend we were planning for warm, green, sunny weather. When we checked our weather app though we realized that wasn't going to be the case. Not only did it rain, it SNOWED! Thankfully that was during the reception and not while we were shooting portraits but still. CRAZY!!! Even though the weather was nutty all day, and we shot portraits in the rain, AND the girls were beyond cold during bridal party photos everyone had a great time anyway, the light was still great, and the indoor ceremony space awesome! What a great way to start our spring wedding season!
