One question that we get over and over from couples and we absolutely love to answer is "Do you travel". We love getting the question because, Yes! We absolutely do travel and we love shooting in new and different places. Memphis is big and Memphis is lovely but there are honestly only so many places to do engagement photos and most photographers tend to end up in the same locations at least a few times every year. Not to say that there isn't something wonderful about shooting in a place you know like the back of your hand. There definitely is. Walking into a venue, knowing right off where you're most likely to have great light, and already having a good idea of how to use that space to it's best potential is a sure fire recipe for success. With new locations though, especially new locations that not only have you not shot in but you've never even been to is the element of discovery and surprise. It forces you to be creative and sometimes really dig deep into your photographer's bag of skills to make the shoot perfect. When Joseph and Allison told us that they wanted to shoot in Starkville MS we were excited. 1) it would be several hours in the car to have all of those business discussions you don't really get to have with an almost 3 year old and a baby at home, and 2) it was a new and exciting place to shoot.
Joseph and Allison both attended Mississippi State and hold a lot of fondness for the campus and town of Starkville which we can totally relate to with Searcy AR. I'm not sure if it was the college town environment, or that we just clicked but before we'd gotten into the shoot very far we were sharing stories, laughing, and having a blast. At one point we actually had to take a break from shooting for a minute to finish laughing. Aleah and I had an amazing time with Joseph and Allison and are so excited for their 2018 wedding!
